Philanthropy

As a family-owned business, we believe we must give back to the community that has provided our family with such abundant opportunities. We look for ways to help others achieve goals, even if it's just opening our showroom as a meeting place for a worthy organization.

We also make monetary contributions and donations of new and used furniture to non-profit organizations. Some of these donations are employee-directed, whereby employees determine the beneficiaries of surplus and used furniture. Others are sizeable donations to organizations including the Human Services Campus, Metropolitan Phoenix Boys and Girls Clubs, Fresh Start Women's Foundation, the ASU Hillel student center, and Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC).

Since 2001, SARRC has also been the beneficiary of our annual Office Chair Hockey tournament. While the event serves as an important relationship-building event for Goodmans staff and customers, it's also a significant charitable event. This year's event raised more than $20,000 for autism research and garnered local and national media coverage, thus giving autism increased public exposure.

In 2005, we also launched the Goodmans Eye for the Good Guy program, in which we asked the community for help nominating and voting for a nonprofit leader worthy of a $20,000 office remodel, including all new furniture. In our inaugural year, we received more than 340 nominations and 31,000 online votes from the public. Initially offered in Phoenix, the program is expanded to Tucson and Albuquerque in 2006.

At the individual employee level, we participate in the annual United Way campaign. We also encourage and reward our employees to take an active role in community programs.
